PC Games

Do you remember Quake II (1997) on Windows 98? Or do you remember Xfire? Then, you must be as old, or older, than me. After the PlayStation 1 years, both me and my older brother shifted towards PC gaming. We had played on the PlayStation 1 and PlayStation 2 game consoles, but we began to really get into desktop computer gaming. A favourite of me and my brothers was the real-time strategy game - Empire Earth (2001). We have spent many countless hours playing this video game, even getting our friends to play it with us via LAN (local area network). The game is still alive even today for a big community of active players.

We experienced the rise of online marketplaces and game downloads. Throughout the late 90s and early 2000s, the desktop computer gaming community remembers installing PC games via CD/DVD rom. Whilst internet speeds continued to progress throughout this time period, online marketplaces began to offer online digital downloads for games. Today CD-DVD roms are not as common as they once were, many custom-built desktop computers not even having a CD-DVD drive installed.
